Re: Flak issue

Guns are stationary and much easier to aim at than aircraft. What is m10 3in?

Re: Flak issue

Shooting at planes with AP ammo is practically useless because the chance of a direct hit is near zero. Direct hits are only possible with machine-guns because of their high rate of fire.

Replay not showing casulaties

Hello, all

Replays in PBEM seem different from those in local games against the AI in that the former do not show casualties and kills. That is, I see only fire exchange during the replay, but...

Re: Pbem

I should like to play with you the scenario 48, Seela's Pioneers 8/43 on the Russian side, with the default settings and deployment. I am a newbie and want as simple a setup as possible. Will you...

Assault guns vs. tanks

Hello, all

Upon completing the scenario #2 (Stonne) for both sides I should like to know more about the way winSPWW2 reflects the distinction between assault guns and tanks.
At Stonne the French...

Re: 11 Gavrus

Thanks for bringing to attention this beautifully composed scenario, JTullman. I spent about eight attempts just to arrive at the general plan of action and then about twelve more to implement it...

Re: CPU load

MS-DOS is a single-process OS, so any program may be said to possess the CPU, although it may exert only a tiny portion of its calculating power spending most time awaiting user input. Is it in this...

CPU load

Hello all,

WinSPWW2 exerts 50% of my CPU power, which is 100% of a core, during any activity in the game including the mere pressing 'R' for rally. Is this intended and expected behaviour and does...

Re: Assigning artillery to spotters

SPWW2 and SPMBT's common ancestor is SP2. WaW's is SP3 .[/QUOTE]
I assumed that SP3 was based on SP2, which would make SP2 the closest common ancestor of all the three games.

Re: Assigning artillery to spotters

Sorry. According to the publicly available information, the games are related in that they have a common ancestor, SP-II. I shall never refer to SPWAW in this forum.

Agree. Arbitratry...

Re: Assigning artillery to spotters

Thanks!

Sometimes I accidentally assign the wrong spotter. To err is human, but to prevent the human from erring is computer.

According to my, rather limited, experience, the attractive...

Re: Assigning artillery to spotters

I see. What happens in the spotter is killed? Does accuracy depend on who has been the spotter during the pre-mission delay or on the active spotter at the moment the salvo is delivered?

Suppose I...

Assigning artillery to spotters

Hello, all

As I understand, a piece of artillery is assigned to the unit (spotter) that the user selected before entering the bombardment screen, but what happens if I shift an existing artillery...

Re: Artillery rate of fire

That is why I suggested to do the simplest thing, i.e. to modify the manual, not the game itself. It would help those without a Steel Panthers background.

Re: Artillery rate of fire

Well, I said why I didn't find it so, and I do not ascribe that to my idiosyncrasy. The presence of a selected hex on the map in bombardment mode seems to be the only indication of a possible repeat...

Re: Artillery rate of fire

I was confused because the UI is somewhat counterintuitive. After a bombardment mission has been completed and the ammo button is up, the delay shown against the artillery unit represents the time...

any movement immediately breaks the target lock,

Re: Artillery rate of fire

Ah, I see now. After the initial mission is completed, the target hexes are shifted by some 2-4 hexes in random directions probably to emulate the aiming error. If I don't touch them or use the shift...

Artillery rate of fire

Hello all,

Planning a bombardment on behalf of the HQ unit (A0) instead of a spotter takes a lot of time, 3.3 turns in my case. It is natural and understandable, but what evades me is why...

Moving targets

Hello, all

The game guide says the following about the enemy's moving units:

How so? Isn't maneuverability essential for a tank's survival, and isn't an immobilized tank a destroyed tank? Are...

I've always thought of Suvorov as a serious author:
