Re: Movement Highlight

Sometimes I can move less than the highlight indicates. I've noticed it usually takes place when elevation levels are either crossed or moved along.

Re: Russian units v4

Yes perhaps, but when it come to sneaking up on an enemy tank do you really think the whole squad (at size 1, ie not very stealthy) would do so or just two guys with a couple of AT rounds at size 0...

Re: Immortal Infantry - How raise HIT chance ?

Pinned means a unit is unable, or more often unwilling, to move due to the perceived risk of getting hit. These troops have gone for cover, exposing less of themselves but being less effective in...

Re: Immortal Infantry - How raise HIT chance ?

Pinned guys fire back (usually). Retreating/routed guys don't.

Re: US OB v4

It's fine, I'm not very familiar with the historical variants and was just curious about this one. The cobra's with TOW's disappear from the roster a lot sooner that the one with just the cannon; I...

US OB v4

Formation 379 (indep cav section) has units 365/744 (cavalry scouts) in it (at least in '85). Those are 5 men units and won't fit in the formations M3's who have carrying capacity of 4.

Unit 119...

Re: New Russian OOB (or SPR OOB)

Yes I know and if the soviet union had gone to war in that period these would have been used by it's troops.
Your argument that they didn't use them historically is moot since there was no actual...

Re: New Russian OOB (or SPR OOB)

Assuming that is what happened with the panzerfausts, did you stop to think about the role of these warehouses and depots? The standard one is to store equipment not needed in PEACE time. The game...

Re: Lethality of SAMs

As far as I know most sams are not meant to actually hit the target they're fired at but to explode near it and have the shrapnel from the blast do most of the damage. So the bigger warheads on sams...

Re: 4.0

Hi, not sure if I agree there. There's little enough fog-of-war as it is with the players 'god view'; not always knowing who exactly is firing from the enemy side is imo an integral part of the...

Re: Retreat?...No, just redeploying in a tactical

Tactical retreats should be done 'leap-frogging'. The units pulling back should pass by others further back who are holding their position. Since they haven't moved, they can shoot with max accuracy...

Re: US and NATO TO&Es

The link to the attachment has been corrected; you should get the zipped word file now. Btw, it's big, 73 pages in total.

Re: US and NATO TO&Es

I use this one for NATO forces of the late 80's. Not every country is as detailed as others but some are extremely detailed. Check out the german heimatschutzen for example, down to independent...

Re: AH-64 Lethality vs. Infantry

On a side note, the footage that's out there almost always shows 'hits' for a reason. Makes for much better publicity. That doesn't mean that the accuracy in the game is correct (I have no opinion on...

Re: Aircraft Retiring From Battle

Yes, one point of damage represents 'significant' damage. Enough at least to make the crew prefer to disengage and return to the airbase.

Re: OOBs way out of whack?

Deputy, you are consistently mistaken the ability to fire a SMG over distance with chance of hitting something. Despite plenty of indication both by actual users of these types of weapons and...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

No they are not. They are completely different games now; they just happen to share a similar but very, very distant past.
Besides having different SP game engines as their basis (SP2 vs SP3) The...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

No, that's a big error in SPWaW we really don't want to repeat in these games. It takes a lot of time for soldiers to dig an entrenchment or foxholes that give significant protection and allow them...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Some answers and opinions of my own;

Besides the coding problems of introducing this, I don't agree. I would make for a worse game. Introducing this option would give the player...

Re: Depleted OOBs

Yes, you could make a depleted company either by reducing the number of units in it (down to two platoons for example) or by keeping the full structure but reducing the number of men in each squad...

Re: Depleted OOBs

Hehe, makes me think of those people who insist on realistic forces for PBEM games. Realisitc forces would mean depleted and understrength formations nine times out of ten, but if you bought those...

Re: 90th Division remarks

That is, as you state yourself, an opinion and not a fact. You are also more or less correct that the game with the current values reflects this. Which is exactly the whole point of this thread. The...

Re: 90th Division remarks

That's what we call 'kicking in an open door' so sorry that I don't join the bandwagon celebrating the obvious.

The 'who-cares-because-what-happened-is-what-happened' attitude is hardly the...

Re: 90th Division remarks

Indeed, these sort of remarks, even if meant just for comic relief, seriously detract from a relevant debate. I've heard the argument of 'you should be grateful we went to europe to fight and shut...

Re: 90th Division remarks

Hmm, I think you're reading to much into this. There are some nation specific abilites but as far as I know it's not nearly as elaborate as you think it is. It would be extremely hard to quantify and...
