Re: US: Stop Congress from making iPod or VCRs ill

Alneyan - yes, the BBC is completely free of commercial ads (it does show some ads for its own shows and products). It's great - it means those "one hour" american shows only take 45 minutes to...

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

Well it looks like it's between four or five regular yarnspinners - welcome back Alneyan. Two points this turn to each of Abysia, Arco, Ermor, Machaka and Man. Totals after turn 5 are as follows:

Re: Gauging interest in a Dominions Roguelike...

I was interested in the comment about not using Angband code. You could easily use a lot of the code to do stuff like draw the screen and move the character without spoiling the game for yourself....

Re: 10 Magic Strength Pretenders....

Anybody ever tried Blood 10? I'd have thought the extra STR would come in handy with large armies, and maybe it would kickstart the blood economy (would you actually get any more slaves per turn than...

Any research mods?

Hi All,

I've played a few games now, and experimented with editing the data files (Settings.txt and TechArea.txt). I can set all the starting tech levels to 0, start a game with 100k resources...

Re: Is Ermor still broken for the AI?

Yes, a HoF full of 50gp priests is very funny. Sadly they don't make much use of many of the heroic abilities - but then again they are at least able to make good use of heroic precision, which most...

Re: OT: What other games are people playing??

That's the whole point about MtGplay - you don't have to pay anything. You download all 11000 cards and make decks and play with them. It's only the official WotC Version ("Magic Online") which...

Re: OT: What other games are people playing??

Do those of you who play MtG Online use the free MTGplay or the nasty WotC Online thing (where you have to buy virtual cards!!)?

I've installed MtGplay and it looks fabulous but I can't find...

Re: Is Ermor still broken for the AI?

My experience with SP is that if I want to play a game against Ermor, I'll put Ermor in as one of the AI nations. If I don't fancy that, I won't.

I have had one game where Ermor still only had...

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

Only four people submitted yarns for turn 4, but they were all good. Points:

Abysia 2
Arco 2
Ermor 2
Machaka 2

(I'm assuming that Man's long report is for turn 5, and that Cheezeninja really...

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

Of course. In those two cases it was simply length - Abysia's and Mictlan's turn 3 reports were very very short. Better than nothing, and fun to read as far as they went, but not deserving of the...

Re: OT: What other games are people playing??

My list is distressingly similar to Cainehill's - Dom2, Diablo2, (S)Angband. I even have Anacreon (is there a newer Version?? Mine is ancient).

I've just got SEIV and think it's great. Spending...

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

Hi All,

Here's my first set of points, for turn 3 reports:

Abysia 1
Arco 2
Ermor 2
Machaka 2
Mictlan 1

Re: Gauging interest in a Dominions Roguelike...

I'm a huge fan of roguelikes and will gladly help. I can't code for toffee, but I can do ideas, docs, tables and balancing. Let me know when you get started.

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

P.S. Please, somebody tell me the days on which the turns are run. I'm planning on giving points for turn 3 reports this weekend, on the assumption that turn 4 runs some time Saturday or Sunday. Then...

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

Interesting - I was very careful in my first post, in case people really didn't want me to judge relative quality. I'm quite happy to be a bit discerning (only 1 point for just filling it in, 2...

Re: How multiplayer is working out for you guys...

How does the server notify you when the turn has been hosted (using quickhost)? With a PBEM it's there in your email. Assuming you don't want to stay permanently connected to the game server, how do...

Re: Any newbies around?

Well, I found the FAQ also, but as I said in my first post, I couldn't make head nor tail of it. Now I've put in a few tens of hours of play it makes more sense - but it's definitely written for the...

Ah - I found the "dubious strategy guide" hidden in the "newbies look here" thread (the urls don't show up as links, for some reason). That looks more like what I'm after ... stay tuned for some...

Re: Any newbies around?

Ooh, this is the point where I have to confess to only ever using one mod in my entire life (that was the "make MoO3 playable" mod). Thanks for the link though - I'll check it out.

Re: MP Game - Yarnspinners

If no-one objects, I'll happily take them.

So, scoring is 2 for a decent report, 1 for a report that is too short or long (or dull?!), and 0 for no report. I'll try to be as consistent as...

Re: Poll: morale and routing

Now that's an interesting idea. It avoids the complicated issue of morale checking for commanders, which I don't fully understand but doesn't seem to be compatible with Panther's original suggestion....

I do read a lot of novels in real life and am well aware of the advantages of descriptive prose. We'll have to agree to disagree about the linguistics - I don't believe that my post was in any way...
