I'd say swap out the death magic for nature on the Spider Elders (abandonment of ancestor worship and the corruption that went along with it) and adoption of a more naturalistic outlook of things....

I really love Machaka, they're one of my fav nations of Dominions and it's a shame they look like an afterthought. Vanilla Machaka really does need some summons and those suggested above would work...
