				 Team League Forming
A fellow SE4 fan and I have been talking about forming a league for multiplayer SE4 games. Members of this league would form teams for multiplayer games, either PBW or PBEM with SE4-Classic or SE4-Gold.
One idea is to form a game where an experienced SE4 player teams up with a "newbie" to help them out, a little ITGT (in-the-game-training) if you will. Another would be for teams of experienced players to try for a "team king of the hill"

We know that pre-determining teams can be messy because of "gamey tactics" and cheating. This is where the league idea comes in, where rules of conduct would be set prior to the games starting.

Before we proceed too far, we'd like to know your thoughts on this idea and if anyone would be interested.

I just finished one team game (Maelstrom -- my team won, woo hoo!). That same group of people are setting up a new team-based game, "Tsunami", using P&N v3.1b (with teams, AFAIK, remaining the same, and room for one more team ... we've got half of it, but he needs a partner ...).Quote:

Some level of pregame planning is beneficial -- coordinating race design for example. Discussing who will be responsible for what (in Maelstorm, Iw as the primary techmonger, while my partner handled the military buildup angle for most of the game).

I like the idea of a league for such, with randomly-assigned teams. However, a suggestion would be for at least SOME formats to allow those teams a couple days to discuss their mutual plans, and adjust their races to suit the requisite playstyles involved in executing those plans.

Other formats might be workable as well; it's always best to have multiple formats for such things, so that things don't develop a sense of "same old same old" ...

The game would be ran from PBW or PBEM, of course, but what else would you like to see in a site developed for this purpose?

 | No, Tsunami is still looking for one more player (it's at 7/8 right now); Shoujo's "Elsweyr Confederacy" needs a teammate. Go sign up!!

AFAIK, the teams are Milligan/Iveron, thedude and myself (GMPax), Groggy and Xenophobe, Shoujo and .... whoever signs up first.

 Here's the game info:

		| Game description Nomads and Pirates V3.1b (Depending on availablility)

Team play - for an idea visit the Maelstrom game discussion board. 4 teams of 2 players each. Each will partner only with their team member and any computer players that will have them. All treaties between non team human members are not allowed. Ending point is to be determined later but the premise is only one team will win - your enemies are the three other teams. This will be a modified computer map where there will be 4 distinct quadrants with each team starting in their own quadrant - each quadrant will have 24 systems in it. Each quadrant will be connected to each of the other quadrants by one warp point. I will post a map so everyone has the same starting info regarding the map. People can either choose their partner or I will pick them at random.
