				 Weapon Platforms
What do you guys do to defeat weapon platforms? Its seems 5 2x missile weapon platforms are pretty deadly, as they launch all their missiles at the same target at the same time. |

				 Re: Weapon Platforms
WP's in my opinion imbalance the game. The way I see it you have one Wp or more on a planet but you lack the ability to do precision strikes against them. Instead you are reduced to pounding the planet equally despite the fact that with our 21st century tech we can do precision strikes. I guess as we move into space our targeting abilities will go bad. Maybe space blindness or something. Anyway the only advice I can give is to set max range for strategy send in planet busters or missile ships. That will take out the Wp's as quickly as possible, and the cites, and the people, and...

You could argue that as sensors/targeting is getting better, so are jammers and such things. And we are, after all, trying to hit planetary( small ? ) targets through the entire atmosphere with weapons meant for space combat. |

Seems like they are a good defensive option, even in MP |

				 Re: Weapon Platforms
I'm not knocking there use in game. I'm just saying in my opinion they imbalance the game. Saying that a weapon built for space combat can't engage a ground target very well is a little fishy, as long as the weapon is missile based that is. Also WP aren't that small, at least not compared to a tank which we can hit from miles off with dead on precision. WP are there to make planetary conquest much more difficult. There are other ways to do it but WP are probably the easiest. In the SFTC I was attempting to make planet conquest a preferred option over glassing by adjusting the economy, planetary capacity, and population bonuses. In the Beta version I had posted this failed as I hadn't succeeded in fully implementing all of those aspects. Now that I have finally resolved the integration problems it is working very well. Point is; speaking from experience, I can say that WP are a much easier way than going through all the adjustments I did. However, it is an imbalance to say the least. There is a better way and I think Atrocities accidentally hit on it one day when he started talking about ground combat and adjustments to the units themselves. Unfortunately more people jumped forward to say why it wouldn't work than came forward to say how it can be made to work.

In SEV, are WP's hit before other planetary stuff like in SEIV? I would hope this would be a no-brainer carryover to SEV.

No, they aren't. They take damage evenly. (Lies! They tend to avoid my damage... or am I just paranoid?)
You can make precision weapons with damage types only capable of hitting WPs, however, and I think that is a good addition to any mod...

				 Re: Weapon Platforms
Making weapons to target them would be preferable, but I was trying to avoid the whole mod issue and just take Stock as is.

I would prefer it work like SEIV.
