				 Slow Movement
I've noticed in some games I've played, the ship movement is executed verrrrryyy slllooowly, with a full second pause between each movement point. In other games, ship movement is very rapid, and five ships can all execute their movement in a blink of the eye.
Anyone know what causes this, and how I can make sure the rapid movement is always active? The slow movement is great for strategic purposes, but it really slows down the game.

 Thanks!

Also try turning CD music off (or on).

				 Re: Slow Movement
I've had very rapid movement for ships when I had something like Windows Media Player up and running. It tends to stop after I close media player so maybe it's linked to graphics/audio.
Winamp doesn't appear to trigger it, so if you want to play music, use that.

Of course, there are a few option settings that also control the ship animation speeds.

				 Re: Slow Movement
The trend I've seen is that the ship movement slows for one movement point in a change in direction. I think it's got something to do with using a different ship graphic for the different direction. Maybe an example would help.... (Bear with me, I don't have the game in front of me.)
Assume you have a fleet with speed 7, and you give it these orders: move east 4 sectors, then move northeast 3 sectors. The first movement point will be kinda slow, but the next three (going east) will be fast, since the game is using the same images to move the fleet. For the fifth movement point, the first going in the new direction, the fleet will take a long time to move as the game loads and displays new ship images (from pointing east to pointing northeast). The Last two movement points will be fast, using the same images.

Okay, the reasoning behind the observations is a bit of speculation... but someone check this and see if I'm not completely off-base.

(This is all in simultaneous mode, BTW.)
