				 Gravitational Quantum Resonators
How do you calculate effective range for opening wormholes? I don't see a scale on any map. Is there a conVersion factor for number of sectors = so many light years?

				 Re: Gravitational Quantum Resonators
In the stellar manipulation window -
You will have to select your warp point opening ship

then select the Stellar Manipulation button

 then select open warp point

in the 2nd window to open - turn on the option "SHOW DISTANCE"

this will show the distances between star systems when you are opening a Warp pt.

I appreciate the reply. But when you're trying to decide how far up the tree to go - I guess it's just try one and then the next.

				 Re: Gravitational Quantum Resonators
Level 2 or three will get you decent "local" range. Level 5 gives you third-of-a-galaxy range.

				 Re: Gravitational Quantum Resonators
There is a conVersion factor of squares to light years. 10 LY : 1 map square, if I recall correctly. Actual distance is used on diagonals, not "grid distance," so use the Pythagorean formula if you need to get exact distance ( D = sqrt( dX^2 + dY^2 )). |

				 Re: Gravitational Quantum Resonators
Of course, a Large galaxy is no larger than a Small galaxy, it's just more densely packed with stars (BTW, in MOO3 there will be a galaxy size called "My God It's Full of Stars!" Serious! Unless they cut it... ) so in a Small galaxy the level 1 and 2 warp-point openers will be almost useless...

				 Re: Gravitational Quantum Resonators
If you're in the centre of the map, level 4 will pretty much cover the whole map.
Ed, I agree that on a small map, level 1 is close to useless, but I think level 2 can be quite useful. For real effect and versatility, you need at least level 3.
