				 Sonne kick butt!
 Hello, I justed wanted to warn and thank the designer of the Sonne Race. They build the best ships I have ever seen. They are making my devnull mod game so challenging and enjoyable, I had to let folks know about it. I also want to warn folks that if they play against the Sonne, watch out and prepare for some nail bitting battles.

 Question to the designer... I have you created any other races... Because I sure would like to include them in my next game!

 Try the Flora in the Del mod, they are probably the toughest of the races to play against... The Sonne are good, but I've seen them wiped early on and other times, #1 or #2 and in conflict with the Flora don't get me wrong, the Sonne are tough but wait until you meet up with the Flora in the Mod

 Yeah, John Beech is one of the best modelers in the SE4 community. Along with others such as Hadrian Aventine, Atrocities, and (see how modest I am) myself.
Check his Tylmai race for another cool somehow similar race. Along with the Vidrihne they make other energy races such as the Eee, and my Ghizrea look pathetic.

He postes is these forums as Markavian.

He manages a site called Universal Shipyards at
 http://mkv25.net/USy/
And you can also find a pack of his races in the extras folder of the Gold CD.

 The Tylmai are a beautiful ship set. The glowing energy effect is excellent. The Star Empire of Romii is a really nice race as well. Is there somewhere we can download a v1.84-compatible Version, or is there a way to convert the existing Versions to work with Gold 1.84? The shipsets at Universal Shipyards say they are compatible with SE4 v1.49 to v1.67. |

 John Beech himself did not do the AI's, they were done by someone else, but his beautiful ships have a matching quality AI. Well, its not as challenging as your stapled "PPB RUSH" AI, but they use much more interesting designs and strategies. Thats, IIRC.

				 Re: Sonne kick butt!
 Hi Devin,
glad to hear that the Sonne are giving you a challenge . I did all the new AI for Devnull Mod Gold except for two (Amonkrie and Fazrah were updated by Geoschmo) and hope all of them are doing reasonably well. I agree with Mac that the United Flora are also very good. Unfortunately not all the AIs have been updated, yet. So I recommend adding the opponents with the empire files. Races with no empires can still be added at random, but their AI has not been finetuned.

Here is a list of the races that have updated AI (quote from the DNM readme):

	I currently have another AI in the works that looks quite promising (temporal AI for the Xiati and Sallega), but there has been no progress lately (I am a bit burned out with SE4).Quote:

		| The following standard AIs have been rewritten by Rollo, races in the same line belong to a "family" and share most of the files: * Cue Cappa, Abbidon
 * Norak, Toltayan
 * Eee, Drushocka, Praetorian
 * UkraTal, XiChung

 * the Amonkrie and Fazrah have been revised by Geoschmo
 * a Devnull Mod Version of the Space Vikings by Dogscoff & Rollo has been added
 * Space Monsters AI by Rollo
 * new AI for United Flora, shipset by Henk Brouwer & AI by Rollo
 * new race added: The Sonne, shipset by Marc Angstadt, AI by Rollo
 |
 Just for the record, John Beech did not do the Sonne shipset. Marc Angstadt did.
