				 OT: Far Cry (Game)
I just installed the demo for Far Cry by Crytek and Ubi-Soft and I have to say WOOOOOOOOOOOW.
The graphics of this game are absolutely breat takingly increable to the 10th degreee. Oh My God are they nice. http://www.farcry-thegame.com/uk/home.php only shows a few of the the wonderful rich quality of these graphics.

The game play is very good as well, but it is the graphics, the lapping ocean, hot sand, the folage, the sky, the quality of the renderings, and the atomsphere that the game generates that just take your breath away.

It has been a long while since I pulled out the VISA to buy a game, and well I am off to buy this game. The shadow effects are incredable. As you walk through the jungle you see the shadows on your gun. OMG....... I am sold.

Any ways don't take may word for it, download the demo or read a review, this game is in my opinion one of the best FPS to come down the pipe since I don't know when.

The main problems with it is the netcode for smoothing the lag in multiplayer, and the Level of Detail changes...The artists doing the close-up models must not have been the same ones doing the far-away models... Some of the bendy trees change shape into a different tree as you get closer.

The outdoor rendering of sea, land and sky are quite amazing still.

I am just saying that great graphics are wasted on a game that boils down to who can point and click faster and more accurately. |

It just finished downloading this morning, all 3 and half gigs of the DVD. It is one of the best games I have seen, the lighting and physics are very impressive.

Never played this particular fps but I do know that at least some of them boil down to more than just "who can point and click faster". Cunning, teamwork and tactics can all play a part. I play a lot of RTCW: Enemy Territory, and although I'm certainly not the fastest or most accurate clicker, I can often triumph anyway through downright sneakiness.Quote:

				 Re: OT: Far Cry (Game)
AT, I understand exactly what you mean. I played both demos of farcry and also loved it enough to make the purchase. I have made it all the way through the game, so if you need hints just let me know.
hmmm, I just had a thought, use the farcry engine to create "Space Empires: Ground Assult" hmm, yet another thing to add to my 2-Do list
Cheers!

P.S. The only other game purchase I made this year is Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic. I highly reccoment this one too. |

Went and grabbed the demo, installed it, go to play a single player game, and what do you know, it's multiplayer only. And nowhere in the download description does it say multiplayer only demo. That sucks.Quote:

Demos like this should always have a single player option. Multiplayer should be reserved for the retail Version only. The idea is to let people try the game. you shouldn't need multiplayer access to try the game.

There are a few games that have multiplayer demos but at least they are clearly marked as multiplayer.

I'm not a happy camper. So I guess this game lost me as a potential customer.

 Nuf Said, Cheers!
