Alliances in Dominions 2?
Would you like to see formal alliances possible in Dominions 2?

Re: Alliances in Dominions 2?
This is kind of a silly question, really: More options is never a *BAD* thing. However, as nifty as it would be, it would likely require a radical overhaul of the current systems, in what is essentially a finished product. Ain't gonna happen.

Re: Alliances in Dominions 2?
Question 1 of 2: Allow temporary alliances, in which allied troops can join a battle on one side?
This is already in the game. The only thing they cant do is be in the same province at the same time. But then thats not all that unusual historically. Did you mean human and computer alliances?
Allow permanent alliances (like "pantheons") between gods?
This is also in the game. Did you mean some sort of game-enforcing thing that forces allies to not attack each other or something? Ive seen that in some games. Or human/computer alliances?
There is also already arrangments for sending money to each other, and gems, and slaves, and equipment, passing thru each others territory, giving mages/commanders to each other, giving territorys to each other, sanctuary for allies, and.. other things I cant think of right now.

Re: Alliances in Dominions 2?
Boy, I feel kind of dumb!
So, you're saying that if I ally with a human player, we can both send troops into our common enemy's province, and our troops will fight the enemy, and not fight each other?
Also, how can I give allies sanctuary, and how do I pass through allied territory? (Actually, a more basic question: how do I form an alliance?)
And, yes, can I form an alliance with a computer player?
Thanks,
Merry

This is all in the game? I wasn't aware that you could let people pass through your territory, if say you have PD or units in there. It would be a good feature if you could.
The game does not support formal alliances, but it's possible to work around the system somewhat.
The game does not support allied battles either. Every movement into another province that is not owned by you is considered an attack, unless you can Hide/Sneak through. If the game were to support 2 or more nations per side of a conflict, they could also implement support for 3 different armies battling each other in the same province as opposed to the way it is done now with 1 battle then another battle with the victors of the first one against the 3rd army.
So, as to agree with Nor, they are good features to be added but will alter the game so much they should probably be looked at for the Sequel or an expansion pack.

No. However, you or your ally can provide "air support" to the other, if one of you attacks the province on the movement phase: The other can cast spells like Seeking Arrow, Fires from Afar, Ghost Riders, Phantasmal Attack, Flames from the Sky, Murdering Winter, etc., to thin out the opposition prior to the ally's army attacking.

By interposing your territory between his and whatever may be trying to kill him.

One party marches through the other party's territory, who agrees not to interpret the action as an attack. If fortresses are present, this is simpler, as you can simply march through without attempting to storm anything.

It is something that is agreed upon by the parties in question: The game does not actually support this in code.

No.
