what am I doing wrong ?

wanted to upgrade stm190.0 to 190.9 , so just to make sure deleted enitre space empires iv gold and reinstalled . updated to version 191 and added image mod . called up game and everything is perfect . tried adding tdm-modpack downloaded version for space empires gold , download good and then tried to open , the black screen comes up but then when I try to get into " none ' or " tdm-modpack ' to start a game I cannot access either . I need to fix this before adding stm. thanks to all that asnwer

Are you using Matrix's Mod Launcher (which is installed with the TDM Modpack)? If so, sometimes it gets a little screwey when it comes to loading a saved game. Make sure your player number and password are correct. If you are playing single player and didn't put in a password, then your player number is 1 (usually) and your password will be the default, just a blank space " ".

edit: that would be a single blank space, just to be clear. Sometimes the mod launcher gets confused on the game passwords when you delete some saved games.

Sometimes SE4 displays nothing on screen the first time you load a new mod. Reloading usually clears this up.

using tdm-modpack 3.40 . I can't even get a game started from here , reinstalled modpack and have same problem

What is in your Path.txt file? It is in the same folder as SE4.exe. Not the header info, the stuff between the lines of equals signs.

You have tried closing SE4, then reopening it, correct?

I have tried closing and opening SE4 - in path.txt where it had "none " I put in " TDM-ModPack "
