				 Gandalph\'s bad email
Hey Guys and Gals(?)As some of you know, I have had a bad email problem. When I built my server, I used an old 6.4G drive as my system drive and installed a new IBM 40G drive for my data, web page, and email. Well, that new IBM drive took a dump and it has taken me a couple of weeks to get it back up and running. It should be back to 100% by this weekend. Thank you for your patience and please remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop.
 Gandalph

Edit - Judging by the red X where my avatar is supposed to be, I guess I am going to have to have a look at my web page also! Damn!!

Gandalph, in case you're interested in a temporary avatar, here's one of mine that might suit you..
just right click on the pic and 'Copy Shortcut' then paste the url in the right place in your profile.

Cheers!
P.S. what the heck here is another one you might like..

What email are you running? I have a copy of exchange that I have been tempted to put up on a server. Just havn't decided if the benifit outweighs the effort.
PS: If you are going to run Deathstars, then I think RAID should be in your future. They are the absolute most &^%#$* up POS that were ever called IBM.

I got upwards of 30 "return to sender" and "delay" emails from your mail server yesterday Gandalph. |

 Check out this site:http://www.storagereview.com/php/tik...page=DeathStar
IBM releasea firmware update for Deathstar Drives. Don't know if it will work on one already not responding, but it may be worth a try. Try freezing you drive first (yes, I mean in a eal freezer!)

				 Re: Gandalph\'s bad email
David E. - I may consider swithing to the wizard not from LOTR. Thanks
Thermo - I am running Exchange. Being MS certified, I pretty much stick to there products (silly me). It is definitely not the easiest to configure (Ipswitch Imail takes that Category), but once configured, is pretty easy to administer. I put together another server to replace this one and bought a WD drive for it. I am having problems demoting the old server though. Think it is DNS related, will get it done this weekend.

Fyron - Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. It will be fixed for good this weekend. Hey, that's "upwards of 30" emails from you not clogging my inbox!
Electrum - Thanks for the info. This is a bad sector problem and I will send it back for replacement after I get my new server running in it's place.

				 Re: Gandalph\'s bad email
OK, so it's a day late. My email is working again and there were 22 SEIV Messages waiting in the queue, so if you are just now getting an old message, this would be the reason. I have better protection in place now to prevent this sort of mishap again. Thank you all for your patience (yeah, right).
PS - Obviously, I got my avatar back as well!!

Edit- Only to change it!!!
