OT - Another One Bites the Dust
Yet another computer gaming company has bit the big one - in this case, Sierra.http://www.gigex.com/general/article...=&source=00001 |

Re: OT - Another One Bites the Dust
I don't know about recently, but I remember back in the day having some good times with some of their products. But what I want to know is Hoyle? What do they have to do with Hoyle card games? And what board games does Hoyle make? I don't remember seeing any board games, just the card games. |

I remember playing those old Sierra interactive games - those were fun. |

Well, I'm in a Cyberstorm game (career) against my wife to see who can get the Cybrid final HQ the fastest. We have Excel spreadsheets for all our pilots, missions, ore, kills, hercs...(we're kinda sick like that!).
They've definitely had some hits (and reviews call their new Riddick game quite good).

Not sure this spells the end of them, though.

Sierra did a series of games titled Hoyle Classic Card Games, Hoyle Classic Board Games, and Hoyle Casino.
My favorite of their titles was the World War I flight sim Red Baron II.

Re: OT - Another One Bites the Dust
Just goes to show that nothing good ever comes from mergeing with a larger Company. All it does is make the employees all the more expendable.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Vivendi posted a good sized profit Last year... |

Hopefully all those laid off game maker's will form their own independant company's and kick the legs out from under the big ones.

That would be great but...who's going to pay for that?

Pay for what? They presumably have compiler's and image software.
