				 Unit Grouping Question
In earlier Versions, I was able to put sats into different Groups by closing the launch window, then going back to launch more.
Now, when I launch sats they ALL get put in the same group.

How do I break up a unit group, so they can be randomly spread around the planet instead of all being on the wrong side of the planet?

				 Re: Unit Grouping Question
IMO, one of the changes they made in 1.27b was to put all launched units in the same group. I'm not sure why they did this but in addition to interfering with the tactic you mentioned, it also introduced a bug into the fighters. (If you launch fighters from the planet, they shouldn't have any movement left. But when the game merges them with a group that *does* have movement, then the whole group including the fighters just launched from the planet have the same movement points as the group.) |

				 Re: Unit Grouping Question
All the sats get put in one stack. Point defence design, Missile launchers, spy sats, all three designs get stacked in the same square.
Since they get placed randomly in combat, I want to have enough Groups to assure that at least some will be between the planet and the incoming Nukes/Ships.

				 Re: Unit Grouping Question
The game really handles satellites poorly. I used to do what you would and launch them a few at a time, but they still tended to be clumped on one side of the planet. Now with one huge group they are really worthless since you have to fire all or nothing. If you have a mix of satellites it is frustrating to watch a ship almost destroyed by direct fire and then if there are missile satellites next in the stack they will all fire missiles at the near dead ship and then if there are more direct fire satellites they will go ahead and destroy the ship that has 100 missiles targeted on it anyway. Very frustrating. Satellites should be evenly spread around a planet or jump point even if all launched at the same time. |

				 Re: Unit Grouping Question
There are some lines in the settings.txt file that don't work. They list the maximum number of satellites and fighters that should be a group, presumably in tactical combat. The default is 20. If this functioned, some of these problems with grouping would be alleviated.
