				 Ho boy
Well, it's been a while since I played SE5, and I was just going to install it on my laptop ... for old times sake. And I discovered ... I never saved the CD Key number, and the game needs it to install. I am soooo stupid.

I'm guessing, an older patch removed the need for a key, which is why I didn't keep it, or do I remember wrong? Anyway, I suppose I should ask Strategy First if they'll sell me another key, for a nominal fee ... but I'm probably not going to take it that far.

So if anyone has other, legal, and moral options, I'd like to hear about them. Otherwise, I can be pretty satisfied with SE4.

Cheers all. |

It requires a CD key? No wonder I never got it too work. Contact SFI and request a new key. They should have you on file. If not beg Aaron to help you out. Or David Gervais.

If you've thrown away that wrapper, you're out of luck I guess |

Usually, I do save the little sticker. At least, I have every other time. If I don't keep the jewel case, I tape the sticker onto the slot in the soft case where I put everything. Maybe I kept the jewel case for SE5, or maybe I taped it, or copied it by hand into the manual. I will have to look for it.
I don't know why I'm remembering that the CD key was no longer needed after a certain patch level. Maybe that was Starfury. Or maybe that was SE4? I was hoping it was the case now, with SE5, and I'd just be an interim patch away from playing. Thanks anyways guys.

The key was always needed. Just contact Strategy First tech support, explain the situation, and see if they'll give you a new key (for no charge). Or, just stick with the more-solid SE4. |
