Strike aircraft not following exit orders

I have noticed that when an aircraft fires direct fire at a target not directly ahead it will continue straight rather than following its exit orders. This often causes the strike aircraft to venture into high AAA areas that it was given orders to avoid.

For example, an SU-25 is ordered to enter from 7 o'clock and exit at 5 o'clock. It fires at a target off to the side of its path and continues straight to exit at 2 o'clock.

Is this intended? I can see a pilot targeting a target of opportunity but I don't see why he would not follow his egress orders especially since the reason for the ordered turn is to avoid AAA fire.

This happens in MBT and WW2

I had not noticed this happening. I will set up a test later today using your example and see if the same thing happens but the main trigger is firing off its line so if YOU have a save that shows this post it

Can confirm, this happens to me too. They see en enemy that's not directly in front of them, they strafe it, then they fly away. If there's another enemy directly in front of them they have a chance of dumping their bombs on them and turning away. If not they'll just fly straight until the edge of the map. I've lost quite a few aircraft to this.

Set up a small scale example and got the anticipated results. save 18 is the pre strike turn and save 19 is the turn that can be played back.

All aircraft were to attack the pre-registered hex. they were to approach from low left and exit low right. The one that attacked off of its straight line went straight after the attack.

It is saying "invalid file" when I attempt to upload. PM me an email and I will send them
.

If you want to try to replicate, I set up 3 rows of trucks and attacked them in the above described manner. I had the all attack the same hex so as to get some fanning out.

Did you zip the CMT and DAT files for the save up ?.. DAT files are not on the " accepted file type" list..... either way.... Andy tells me he has seen it happen as well and started around the time we allowed strafing at targets not directly on the flight path so it's on the list to investigate

I have had this happen a number of times too. The aircraft continue straight across the map instead of making a turn to exit where I want them too. Have had several planes shot down as a result.

OK, thanks. It's on the list to investigate. It may mean no more " targets of opportunity " as that seems to be what's interrupting the flight plan but we'll see..... that may not be necessary but I have never really liked the wide variation between the flight path and the angle of fire that resulted from allowing targets of opportunity

		Chiming in.

From my experience it seems that if aircraft do hit a target of opportunity they "forget" their exit orders and just proceed to the opposite side of the map.
