HEAT vs Helicopters
Why tanks cant fire HEAT rounds against Helicopters? I thought that it was basic tactics,US even have special antihelicopter round, Abramses in game cant fire anything effective against armored helicopters (HMG never kill armored Helo, HEAT can) Im playing long campaign now and i found that only base M1 fires main gun aganst hovering helo as they have HE rounds, M1A1 dont. Can you look at it?

I just tested this. 2007 era Abrams firing at British Sea King Helos and they fired HEAT just fine. There's a save game attached. Blast away

Yes they can.
Just tried with AMX-30 with HEAT only at helos, and they fired them fine at HOVERING helos. As soon as the helo EVADED then it was moving too fast to engage.
To fire (other than AAA weapons) at helos, it needs to be travelling slowly (depends slightly on firer FC, stabiliser etc as to how slow). The firer also needs to be stopped or not have moved very far (depends slightly on FC and Stab).
I presume your target helo was moving (not hovering) or your tanks had moved too far to be able to engage it with main gun rounds?.

Try this scenario. it is M1A1 against Mi-24, HEAT is not fired! It looks that it is not possible to fire HEAT round against armored helos. Fire is possible only at those without armor stat!

Loaded scenario into patched version of game, tanks happily fire HEAT ammo at the hinds, until they evade - when only the AAMG can engage. Repeated test in the issued CD exe, with same results.
No problem with firing tank main gun at helos - armoured or vanilla.

They can in the patch version. I'm not sure when that changed but they can fire at Helos with HEAT now
