		Does anyone knows exact algorithm or something about it?

 I strongly disagree.
 
1)  It seems that you don't search any higher than you have paths.  If you want full benefit you need at least 3's across the board.

Test it out yourself, download the debug mod, make a high S all other paths at 1 pretender, and set nr of provinces to 9. And then, wait.
 
Higher paths do increase the chances of a search and increase the chances of higher level searches.

		Really? Because I always heard that path strength did matter. If you only have 1F you will never search higher than 1F. 
 
I tested this just now, and it seems my information is incorrect. A f1 mage can search for higher levels. But it looks like higher paths levels do give higher chances of high level search. (I got a lot more lvl 3 searches in astral which was high, than in fire, which was 1). 
 
3 is the max that is searched. And you cannot search in holy iirc. And dominion does matter, as you only search in your own dominion. 		I've used SoAP in several games (MA Rlyeh, MA Bandar Log), and found that it can be very powerful in late game with Wish of "magic power" and Ring of Wizardry. 		I think you only search for a fraction of your path.  I had a pretender with nine in paths adn with arcane strands he was only pulling threes.
