				 OT: Java Programming practice
Hey, for you long timers that know me I've been taking some programming classes. For my most recent Java class we had to write a Minesweeper style game from the ground up. Just a simple little game, it's no great shakes, but I'm kind of proud of it. It's the first "real" program I've written in Java.
If you're interested in seeing it I'm including it here. It's written in Java so you'll need to have the Java Runtime environment on your PC to play it.

Cool! It's just like Windows Minesweeper. Which means I suck at it. How do I research more effective sweepers?

 ROFL! More effective sweepers!
Perhaps you should research SomethingAwful's review of SE5 - to paraphrase a bit, no amount of research will save you from the utter pit of boredom that is Minesweeper - no offense Geo, I just never cared much for that game

This is great! I am taking a java class now so I can teach it later. Man I thought it was cool when I wrote a program that counts marbles, splits them, and tells you haw many are left over. I may be calling on you for help in the future! Would that be ok?

Minesweeper Boring? Just wait till I come out with my next game... Java RockPaperScissors.
Ask away Shang. I'm by no means an expert obviously but if I can help I'm willing.

				 Re: OT: Java Programming practice
Hey Geo, ever think of making it "Space Empires: Minesweeper" Use a nice star field/nebula background, the choice of races for mine graphic selection. Object to clear the sector of mines. Send a sample to Aaron and ask for his blessing. Heck, I'm sure that SFI would even host the file as a fan based games. (Oh and I'd be willing to throw some graphics in your general direction O_o )
Just a thought, Cheers! |
