The good news: My copy of Gold arrived here in Pittsburgh today, and my mod was included on the CD.
The bad news: I can't play until I replace my malfunctioning video card, which has locked my monitor in 640x480, 256 color mode. 
At least I can read the new manual in the meantime.

Stupid UPS.  My copy arrived at La-Grande Vista, CA, at 4:36 A.M. on March 5. It is scheduled for delivery at my house on the 11th. I have no clue as to where La-Grande Vista is (other than in my state), but it can't take them 6 days to drive it to me. Grrr... |
