For those that might be interested, I've been able to Mod "Medieval Total War"

I've even created a few new units.

As always, backup any files you are going to be messing with.

The unit information you need is in the "crusaders_unit_prod11.txt" file. It looks like buildings too should be doable, albeit, I haven't turned my hand to them yet.

If you make new units with new names you will also need to go to LOC/ENG/Names.txt and near the bottom of the file, specify the singular and plural forms of the name. Also in the Loc/ENG/description.txt file you'll need to create a text blab on your unit.

In CAMPMAP/INFO-PICS/ships or units, and CAMPMAP/REVIEW_PANEL/"ditto", you need to copy a Bif file that is close to what you want the unit to look like and change its name to whatever you named the unit.

I was able to open the files with Wordpad to edit these. You want word warp OFF.

Tonight I'm going to see if I can find some bif file freeware that I can use to muck with the images.

I posted this junk here because I figure some of you have the game and are already wondering how you can "fix" it. LOL, that's always my problem.

Happy modding.

Oh, yeah, I expect the above only applies to the US English Version. I'm not sure if it's published in other Languages yet, and if so, how those Versions might be different.

can i mod Cue-Cappa cavalry mounted on their war-Tuxruks, so that they can charge the gates of the holy land while ground-cannons lay down fire to keep the local militia under supression?

There are some very interesting MTW mods that improve on the game: Patrician 1.1 (1.2 out soon) and Medieval Mod IV ver 1.5. Try 'em out! See the Respawn or Guild websites.

Nah, Medieval kind of suxs. Very good tactical battles, but the Empire building part its for 3rd graders. I bought it, I thrashed it a little bit to play the none-playable factions, and i shelved it. It will stay mothballed untill MOO3 comes out and I trade for it in EB.
In Shogun at least the provinces had an acceptable scale. I mean, how I'm suppose to believe that Ireland its just one bloody province?

Tenryu, tks for the info on the Mods, I've been a shogun player since it came out and am now going to try my hand at MTW. One question, is the unit max of 960 for all sizes of units, ie small, default, med, large, huge, In shogun you could have the 16 unit limit no matter the amount of troops in them, If this is the case, I would like to see it go to the full 16 like in Shogun, I will ck out the mod sections after I attempt to learn the ins and outs.....
just some ideas Mac
