If I remember correctly, Trooper stated that he used Bryce to create the images we have been drooling over .

Yes, but as it seems to be a "dead end" software (no export of the 3d files possible), this work will be useless for future SE games, so I dunno if I must encourage you to do the same. Nethertheless, it's great if your aim is the short term. |

Trooper, I just read a review of Bryce 5 over at PC-Review and it claims that you should be able to export to a variety of formats. Here's a link. I hope that their information is correct so you can create with software you're comfortable with.

It's a lie. All you can export is terrain. Great for landscapes, but useless for shipsets. |

I won't use Doga anymore. I think it's far too restrictive, because there isn't any negative or intersection operation when creating custom objects. Light settings are also too basic.Quote:

POVray is the best. Moray is a good modeller if you don't want to mess w/ script, or you have a large project, but you have to pay for it if you render many scenes (nag screen).

sPatch and hamaPatch are excelent for Spline Modelling (hamaPatch is Bilingual).

Above programs (except Moray) are free.

3D studio Max has a good modeller, but it does so-so rendering. Any raytraced stuff is going to take too long. |

I'm gonna test all these softs and see what will be my favorite one.
Also added a few pics today on the starship shipset. I'll make the remaining ships with the new soft.

 | Agreed. DoGa was a fine program and I have pushed it to its limits and beyond. I know that you have as well, and you and Kwok have convinced me to give it up. What is your current 3d program? Bryce or Moray?

And thanks Urendi Maleldil for the info.

Re: Citizen Federation Version 2.0 available !
I'm working with bryce, but the trouble is all that work will be lost for SE V, because bryce can't export its files.
I tried Maya 4.5 but the soft always crashes when trying to extrude polygons. I couldn't find a patch to correct that. Also tried Moray, but I couldn't make it work, (maybe a moray/povray Version incompatibility) it's not very intuitive...
