Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters
I've always thought that the Resource Converter was a little too good. I think that there should be a modest maximum that a given RC can convert. This would make the game more realistic in that you would have to build more RC's to convert more resources. It would also force empires to actually try to mine what they need instead of mining the highest resource and converting later.
 Just my $0.02

yea like it was all automated... or planets only had one resource on them... but automated on exchange...

Slick, specific mines are silly. Monoliths are the only way to go. |

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters
First, in the context of my post and the subject at hand, monoliths are mines since they are producing the resources directly instead of using a resource converter. So would be solar generators or any other resource (m,o,r) producing facility.
Second, the math says otherwise unless you can live with a break even point many many turns in the future. I don't wish to argue the point and I know that this has come up before. If you are happy with monoliths, great.

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters
The math does not say otherwise when you factor in all of the variables. Set up your empire so that you can build monoliths in just 3 turns at planets with a SY, and that break even point comes much sooner. Add a value improvement plant and the break even point comes sooner.
Long term planning is the way to win a game, not short sighted planning. Games are not won in 30 turns in most cases, you know.
That, and I have created much more powerful economies with monoliths than those players with sometimes larger empires using normal miners in many, many PBW games. [ May 30, 2003, 19:33: Message edited by: Imperator Fyron ] |

Tesco, I am one you haven't meet yet. But don't worry, I have a hunch that we will meet soon. I am exploring furiously. I have to know my future back yard
