				 Mine Sweep Order
Does the MINE SWEEP ORDER serve any purpose in simulataneous games?
It's the little icon that looks like a broom in the upper right hand corner.

I've tried using it in a simultaneous game and it doesn't seem to work.

				 Re: Mine Sweep Order
Sure it has use. If you have a minesweeper orbiting an enemy planet and they launch mines, the mines do not get swept. If you use the minesweep order, you can sweep without moving away and back. Actually, this pertains to a situation in any sector where a cloaked enemy vessel comes and launches mines in the same sector your sweeper is. Normally, sweeping only occurs when your ships move into a sector. But with this order, you can sweep at any time. |

				 Re: Mine Sweep Order
If you are already in a sector, like blockading a planet, and something introduces mines into that sector, you could then use that button to sweep those mines.
Of course, since you can only play agaisnt the AI, as it is a simultaineus game, and the AI does not launch mines from a planet, then this is not really an issue.

At least, that's the way I think it works.

Simultaneous games are mostly for MP. It is sequential games that are nearly always (not in hotseat) for AI only. |

				 Re: Mine Sweep Order
 Hmmm....
I tested it out on a simultaneous game.

Had a treaty which was broken etc, but basically I had player A lay mines on Player B's Homeworld.

I then had Player B build a minesweeper. And try to sweep the mines of the Homeworld on which it was built.

No change in the number of mines after a turn or two.

Must be doing something wrong.
EDIT: Also, the minesweep order is not shown in the "View Orders"

Well I have never tested it, but what I said is how it should work. If it doesn't, you may have found a bug. Send the savegame to MM. |

I for one prefer simultanious even in SP. The AI seems to have more of a chance that way.

				 Re: Mine Sweep Order
Well yes, but sequential is the default for SP games, simultaneous is the default (only way for most forms) for MP games. |
