[Strategical Combat] Query about ship placement
While playing a 2vs2 game (*Waves at Parabolize and Electrum*), I ran into a small problem with the way fleets are handled.
Does anyone know how you can ensure that a given ship will play before another one in a strategical battle? Or for this matter, how the different ships are placed within a given ship? After running a few experiments, it seems like the smaller crafts are the first to play, but I could be wrong. (And I do hope you can tweak around this)

Thanks in advance for any assistance regarding this problem!

Re: [Strategical Combat] Query about ship placement
 Check out the formations.txt file
Only ship you have control over is the leader. The rest are placed according to the formation, with the oldest ships getting the lowest number. Since the oldest usually also is the smallest, some of the formations can suck really bad for certain fleet combos.

On the other hand, if you have the time it can be used as a feature; retrofit your old LCs with Shield Depleaters and Engine Destroyers and they can be quite effective as the front line

If you are talking about moving each ship sepearatly in a fleet during battle then I know what to do. Just move every toher ship (other then the leader) until they have no movement points left, then when the leader moves they cannot follow him. I hope that sort of helps. |

You can also tell them to break formation; I don't know where or if it works when your moving them.Quote:

The learning curve is steep, so it's not you.

Re: [Strategical Combat] Query about ship placement
I always have my ships break formation. I'm not sure if there really is an advantage in keeping your ships in formation? |

Your ships don't follow the leader in formation, which really wastes movement and can stick them in bad positions.
