demo pronlems

i had the demo Last year and it worked fine...while im waiting to order the game i thought id get the latest demo and play it till i can order the game..i got .99 Version and installed but when it starts to load it says its missing some files..some bmp's and something else about the screen res i think..anyways
if
i
bypass the errors it takes me to the menu screen but i cant use any but quit..the rest do nothing and are blacked out..any ideas>?

The two missing BMP's are available for d/l at the MM site www.malfador.com

As for the res warning, and the fact that the game won't run, you MUST be using a desktop resolution of at least 800x600 to play SE4. Is your res by any chance set to 640x480?

no I use desktop of 1024 x 768 16 mil color.....i noticed that the bmp's im missing are intro.bmp and mainparts.bmp....not the ones listed on Mm's site

...but even if the bmps are'nt there the demo should be runable..all i can do is start it up and quit

Try downloading the demo again.
What Version of DirectX are you using, with which graphics card ?

yeah mine's a creative card but ive always used reference drivers also.

starting to think my demo problem is just me..dloaded and installed the battlecruiser millenium demo and it wont work either..goes black then back to desktop...also wildtangents software wont install..says its already running..when i have'nt even installed it..even checked by doing the alt-ctrl-del and making sure..oh well...bout time to format..soon as ai finish these games on here like baldurs gate and stuff.

as a suggestion, make absolutely sure that any and all traces of the previous installataion(s) are gone before re-installing.

BTW I have same setup as you Daehawk (geforece & directX 8, but use nvidia reference drivers, the creative one's were crap with the athalon I have for a cpu)

DX isnt an issue with SE4 (or they would have included it with the CD)
Man, demo .99 is so old and outdated...
Heh, another reason to buy the full Version!
