 Huh. Arther C. Clarke, I think, wrote a short story about a chess master who commited some sort of fraud and had his credit card taken away for a year. It was an electronic society with utopian tendencies, so the story centered around his difficulty in coming to grips with being helpless and having to rely on other people.
