USN Pre-1967 Designation System in WinMBT

I'm wondering what people think of using the empty space in the USMC Orbat to give USMC/USN aircraft and helos their Pre-1962 Designations, so that we can have better accuracy.

For example, before 1962, we have A4D-1, -2 Skyhawks, and after the changeover date, we can select A-4A and A-4B skyhawks. Or is this too anal?
