Open spot in Turn Blitz #1 has been filled
Turn Blitz #1 started Last weekend (October 5th-ish) and we are at 2403.5
We have one open slot that needs a replacement player. Jump in, and I'll add you as soon as I can.

The player quit because of conflicts with his own AI... the AIs are messing with everybody's empires, and that was part of the point of the game setup.

Turns in this game are EVERY HOUR, nonstop. Watch for when the turn is due, and play quickly. Try to guide your AI, by optimizing the facilities on your planets, prioritizing research projects, and launching smart attacks during a string of "human played turns".
Try to avoid doing giving orders that the AI will immediately countermand, and be sure to keep your ships fully supplied [ October 08, 2002, 18:56: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ]

By the way SJ, did removing the 0 from the reminder game option stop the "turn due" reminders from happening?

I just deleted 4 pages of email from PBW...
I'll let you know in about an hour

I think so. I got the reminder for the 8:30ish turn, but not the 9:30ish. Haven't checked my e-mail since then; I can download the turn faster from the PBW site than I can collect all my e-mail.Quote:

Setting priorities for which ministers you want to clean up after is critical. I've had two turns so far that I spent too much time on to make their deadline.

I could imagine it would be very easy to waste a half an hour doing a turn only to find the turn processed minutes before you uploaded. And then if you aren't paying attention you would lose the next turn as well because you uploaded an out of date .plr file. Brutal.Quote:

I have looked at the history and I am kind of suprised the number of turns some of you have managed to get in. 8, 10 turns in a row without missing. Remarkable.

 I've done very well, then.
My biggest problems in getting turns done was:
a) getting 60 seconds of internet time while other people were on the computer.
b) Using a half-dead floppy to carry the files over to my computer. I had to download a few turns twice because of bad sectors.
c) work, sleeping and eating [ October 07, 2002, 21:53: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ]

Re: Open spot in Turn Blitz #1 has been filled
The attitude I've taken is one of gentle guidence. I examined the AI files before I chose my empire and tweaked the empire set-up a little bit. Now I let the AI run things with an eye towards minor changes, "hmm, I think they'd do better if they have this tech earlier." The most heavy-handed thing I've done is set the build queue for a new colony to take up all facility slots.
They seem to be doing ok so far...

 Nodachi,
It sounds as if you are running it as a true galactic emporer would. No way any one person could exert the level of control we typically do in these games.

 EDIT:
Well, the empty spot is filled now!

Original:

I'm doing it pretty similar to Nodachi.

Adding to build queues, and filling the research queue. So far, I haven't had to change any planet designations (mining colony/military base/etc).

I missed turns 19 through 44 while I slept, and went to work today, and my race is still in 3rd place, right where I left it, except much bigger [ October 08, 2002, 17:43: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ]
