How do I create a planets.bmp file?

Hey-

This is my first post.. and I need some help.
I downloaded the planet pack so I could add new art. I renamed all of the stellar object bitmaps into Groups, then I created a secttype.txt to include all of them. I organized all the planets 1-388, then grouped the constuctions, asteroids, stars, warp points, etc into their own 'hundreds' so it's nice and organized.
Now, how do I make a planets.bmp file? I wrote some html to create a page 20 wide and filled down in order, but when I convert it to a bmp it's still not lining up. I used a thumbnail utility to convert the bitmaps to 36x36 thumbnails... but something is still not right.
