Ed, there are several options to disable Autorun/AutoPlay with Tweak UI, available from the Microsoft Power Toys Page.

I don't know if they'll work for you since I haven't tried them, but I'm looking through Tweak UI right now and there's a section on AutoPlay under the My Computer -> AutoPlay section.
