I will be honest with you, Fan Fiction DOES sell people on this game. Especially when they read stories by sachmo's, RD's, Ruatha's, Erax's, and so many many more.
You know, it would be great to have a story or two on the SE V disk. You know a good back story on all of the major races. Hell most of us would jump at the bit for a chance to write a back story for one of twenty races. I know I would.
