Re: I design shipsets(Lexx mod planned)
I thought they were stunning for the concept, design and implementation. The idea of not so much a destroyer but a “flight” of 3 individual ships works for me. I do find them dark but I find a lot of sets are too dark for me. I try not mention it anymore as it is usually because of my vision and if I like a set enough I mod it for home use. I never distribute these sets. To lighten ships I:
Right click > Open With > Photo Editor > Image > Auto Ballence > File > Save
 Works for me.

Photo Editor comes with Office 2000 and maybe others. If you do minis you might have to finish by loading into Paint and put the 2 pixel "true black" border around the.

For concept alone, your race gets an A. The fact that the images are cool, is just icing on the cake. Although, im afraid i agree it is a little to dark, but, considering other things, and that if im not mistaken, this is your first shipset, it is still VERY impressive. |

Re: I design shipsets(Lexx mod planned)
Thank you for the feedback. I plan to run them through Doga L3 and maybe make a few small modifications(lighten them up), and add some extra ship sizes, but my primary concern with doing that is how do I make Pics for the "Neo" sizes in between the exsisting sizes if the current number of vessels in the ship is directly relavent to the size... Ok eg. 1 vessel=escort 2=frigate, so what would a "corvet"(between esccort and frigate) be? and what about "scouts". My instinc to pull this off is to put a second type of mini vessel model in there to acount for the difference of size. what do you think? and...

Yes Oleg has it right, they are telepathically connected, but perhaps a semi transparent ray of some sort, like a lightning bolt or like those little round glass static electricity thingies with the pinkish energy inside that make your hair stand up when you touch them. Can Doga L3 do this?Quote:

Just my opinion, keep on the good work !

 Oleg:
I think the idea is that each ship is a representive ov some "bee hive" attacking the enemy. The race should have psychic and/organic technology.

I don't suppose anybody knows where to get even more Doga parts than the ones Arocities posted in the "sticky" topic? I got those already and they're coming in handy, especially the "people parts".

That's quite surprising but now I understand the idea. Energy beams is a good idea indeed, I think it's possible to create easely some kind of laser beams, using the texture options of Doga. It will be a bit harder to create realistic lightnings bolts, I would try to use a chain of tiny bright cylinders.Quote:

Re: I design shipsets(Lexx mod planned)
 Hugh Manatee,
You can do something like that. The process is time consumming. So, if you really want a sphere with a bolt of lighting, let me know. I will PM you, or u/l a txt file. Of the process. The easiest way is to select a square part. Edit, add the color you want the bolt to be. In the 'Pallette Settings' window, select 'spark' or 'thunder' for 'color1' (70% - invert), 'color2' (80% - invert) and the 'bump' (80% - invert). Set the over all density to 100%. On the 'Material' tab select 'Free setting'. Set the sliders to: 'Difuse - 100%', 'Ambient - 100%', 'Brightness - 100%', 'Extent - 1%', 'Hue - 15% to 20% (depending on the color you want)', 'Reflection - 30%' and 'Transparency - 0%'. Select, OK. Now, 'file' "export as part". There you go!Quote:

Or, I could make one for you and send it to you. Either the plain 'lighting bolt' or the energy sphere!

Would you mind sending me a copy of one (or all) of the L-2's from your set? I would like to put them into L-3. If not, I understand!

 Luck, with the lighting bolts!

I don't mind at all, ^that's them, have fun.

EDIT: and I just figured out the effect I was looking for with the "lightning", I just made a few jagged lines and set the "emmission" slider all the way up. I gave it a slight lime greenish hue. I haven't put it in the shipset yet as I haven't converted them yet, so it might not look good in the final product, but I'm optimistic.
