Re: Worst "oops" moments in PBW?
At the start of this thread, I said my wife cloaked her fleet, including her Sweepers.
Guess who just did that in 2 PBW games at the same turn?
The first game processed and I saw the results, and had enough time to undo my turn for the second game and then in a rush to get the turn done before the deadline, forgot to move my ships...

Re: Worst "oops" moments in PBW?
First PBW Game Ever:
Start next to a blackhole system full of damaging warp points. No problem, I'll just research armor and ship construction to LC, then send LC based colony ships with 10 Armor III's through. After about a year of preparation, send the colony ships through. Opps, massive death How did that happen You mean damaging warp points stop the entire move order queue and the exit warp point is 2 spaces from the center. Guess I should have spent all that time on stellar manipulation instead. Having read the FAQ extensively, I was wondering why this wasn't mentioned, when low and behold!
Quote:
From the FAQ:
5.10.6 Q Is there any way to tell ships not to clear orders when go through damaging warp point? It's very annoying when there is black hole on the other side of the warp point and the warp point is two squares away from black hole... You can guess what happens, it's impossible to go through that system.
A(Baron Munchausen): There is a game setting to not clear orders when encountering enemy ships but I don't know of any setting for getting damaged by 'terrain' features. I think you are stuck with this one.

Hmm, but the damage doesn't always occur, right? So you just need to have enough volunteers...

Re: Worst "oops" moments in PBW?
Hmm, I've played many PBW games and I just made a mistake. Twice. When typing out Messages or issuing orders to ships, I have confused 2 different games now. It didn't hurt my empire much or anything but it did set me back a bit as far as ship orders go. As for the communication mishap, nothing bad came of that so I'm thankful.

Re: Worst "oops" moments in PBW?
HAH!! I have committed many of those mistakes In my first PBW game I didin't research mines for I wasn't aware that I could launch them from planet directly without minelayers. My empire got concuered in 2 turns once my opponent discovered that. You only need 1 troop transport above every planet. Needless to say I didin't have troops either...
Once I sent a strict demand to one empire to abandon colonies in one particular system. Unfortunately it was the wrong empire. Fortunately it did not cause any consequences.
Once I sent my whole fleet (all available ships, about 50 of them) to meet a surprise attack of one another empire in other side of the galaxy. Once my fleet was there fighting, other opponent opened a warp point drectly into my home system. Once my production dropped severely, I managed to send my remaining fleet (30 ships) to defend my home system. Unfortunately, when my fleet was back, there I had about hals dozen ships left because all of them scrapped for lack of maintenance... Guess if there was any planet alive in my home system by then?
Heh, this is quite a fun thread indeed
