There is actually another way to stop a star from naturally exploding: You have to use this device called the Save/Load feature, and transport the universe to a time before it was discovered the sun would explode. An alternate reality will play out, and the star will never get a 'Plasma Instability (Pshaw, it's not cheating, I call it 'being resourceful' )
