Re: OT - We never landed on the Moon
I have my own reasons for why I believe we went to the moon. If we were going to fake a NASA mission, why couldn't we fake going someplace a whole lot more interesting than the moon? Sure, if the Russians were going to fake something, they would think small like the moon. But we Americans would fake going someplace much nicer. I've heard Venus is great place to visit. Venusian women and all. Don't believe all that stuff about it being the hottest planet. The folks who tell you that are the same ones who think you can't go to the sun because it's so hot. Just go at night, silly!
Seriously, I agree with the earlier Cold War post that said the main motivation for going to the moon when we did was to get there before the Russians did. If you recall, they were beating us in the space race.
If we could spend 'X' amount of dollars in 1969 and walk on the moon, I might imagine that the cost, while still quite significant, would be much cheaper today. But why walk on the moon a second time? Isn't that just a needless waste of money? I don't think anyone seriously believes we can't walk on the moon with current technology and resources. So, if we haven't gone walked on the moon in the Last 10 years, this pretty much confirms in my mind that there isn't any point until you have the resources and technology to establish a semi-permanent base there. The important thing was getting there first. Once we had done it, it was pointless for the Russians to prove that they could too, IMHO.

Re: OT - We never landed on the Moon
Oh my GOD!! Please tell me no one here is really stupid enough to believe FOX that we did not go to the moon. If you believe that, then I have some ocean-front property in Colorado I am looking to sell.
What do you guys think we were doing with those massive Saturn V rockets sent up to space? Do you really think we would waste millions of dollars of money launching empty rockets into space? Many people watched them go into space just like you can watch the space shuttle take off today.
Why do you think NASA employs so many people? Most of them are physicists/engineers, not filmmakers and actors. Space is real, and if you believe we can cross the Atlantic and create a world wide web, why can you not belive we went to the moon?
Seriously people, if you do not believe we went to the moon, you are totally ignorant of the subject, and really should not be forming beliefs based on zero facts, or 'facts' from one side of the argument. Look into records, explanations, etc. that say how and why we went to the moon. If you can understand how we managed to get through the radiation belt and the whole engineering of space-flight capable craft, as well as understanding the physics of how each stage of the moon missions was done, then and only then can you sit there and tell people we did not go to the moon. But all the people that do understand those things do actually know that it was quite feasible to do, and that it could be done, and that there is no reason to believe we did not do it.
And as for cameras, I can claim that a picture you took right in front of me of some landmark or empty field was a fake. I can get any number of "experts" to say that such and such a thing is not right, and that the photograph was faked.
And finally, lets remember the source of this crap, FOX, the same people bringing you 'Temptation Island' and 'Who wants to marry a millionaire?' not to mention 'Alien Autopsy.'

I don't see how anyone could believe that the Government could keep a secret like this. That gives them too much credit. They can't even keep the Presidents sex life secret!
There are to many people involved. One of them would have appeared on Geraldo by now.!

Re: OT - We never landed on the Moon
Its obvious that we have never been to the moon.
Just take a look at the pictures of the earth from the moon.
They just have to be fake. Everyone knows the earth is flat and not round.

Re: OT - We never landed on the Moon
Oh, we have been to the moon alright. But that doesn't mean NASA isn't covering something up. Why do you think we haven't been back in almost 30 years? Go here for the real reason...

Re: OT - We never landed on the Moon
My aunt works for NASA and she said that we did go to the moon the reason we have not been back yet is still clasified.
