I've been "lurking" for about a week and just thought it only polite to step out of the shadows long enough to say hi

By pure chance I read about SEIV on the MOO3 site, investigated the web site, along with Galactic Civilizations as that was mentioned too, and ended up trying both demo's. After the first sleepless weekend, I knew I was in love with SEIV Gold!

But then came the shock, trying to buy the game

It really is a great game, the best of it's kind in fact! (and I was, and still am really, a big MOO2 fan) I was going to buy from the US, but by the time I'd worked out the shipping costs etc, I might as well buy from the distributors here in the UK... �41.50, which is what... $62.25?

Still, it was worth it and I don't care!

The people at Shrapnel have looked into the retail option several times, and each time decided not to do it. It usually ends up that the price of the games stays the same or goes up, and the return for Shrapnel and the developers is reduced significantly. The employees probably wouldn't hesitate saying "Retail screws developers", since it does. So about the only store you might see SEIV in is a used-game store. Now I said *MIGHT*, it still isn't likely

It's simple. The reason so many games suck are are rushed is because of mainstream retail. Mainstream retail is destroying strategy and wargaming for the PC as we know it.

However, do expect to see our games at hobby shops near you in the future.

EB sucks BTW.
