as an ima i mean amatuer game programmer, i can tell you that the cost of even the simplest game is not measured in money or time, but headache's. not that i've ever come very close to something the size of SE.

There was a news release a year or so ago and a thread that followed about the fact that they had sold 500,000 copies or something like that. I honestly don't remember what it said.
I do everything I can to get people interested in SEIV and have been told by over 40 people that the reason they bought the game was because of me. I bought the game because it was the best 4x game out and the production quality blew me away.

If you have an idea, and the willingness to run with it, then there's no reason it can't be done.
Why else do you think i'm learning Visual Basic?
Thanks for all the replies guys! It's nice to have an idea of how many copies have been sold.
Maybe we can scare Aaron and tell him we'll organize a party for everyone at his house?
