Thanks everybody. I tried the GIMP thing this afternoon and it seems to be working out OK. It's from something called "The Free Software Library" so I won't have to pay anything. You can't crop images with GIMP, but apparently people are encouraged to mod it, so my guess is there is a free add-on or mod or whatever, that will give me that ability too. Which actually, when you think about it, makes this program a pretty good complement to SE4; maybe there should be a regular link to it somewheres...

Dare I ask: What's on the toast?

yep, it was an intelligent toaster that thought the most important thing in the universe was toast and would ask if somebody wanted toast at ANY time and repetetively.
