If we make avatars sticky, (I assume by him saying make avatars sticky, he means that once somebody sets a particular avatar, that such particular avatar will stay his forever, and can't change it to another one) It'll make avatars an unnecessary feature.

If that is what was meant... then it is a bad idea. The number of sticky threads should be kept to a minimum. Also, only threads containing very important information for the whole community should be sticky. Avatars certainly do not qualify. |

There are dozens of threads that are nice for new members. Should all of them be sticky?
That is what the Important SE4 Information sticky thread is for. It has a threads section in it.
