"Only X" weapons

Correct. Any excess damage from Only-X weapons is forgotten.

Excess damage left over from regular weapons just before the first Only-X weapon hits will add to that first only-x weapon, though.

Could someone post a list of the Only X damage types and which ones skip shields / armor and which ones don't?

I think Only Engines is the only one that doesn't skip shields and armor... (well, except Only Shields )
