The ISP tech ran the problem back to the central office and has passed it off to the telco, as expected. The telco has commited to getting out and checking their hardware by tommorow afternoon, which was a little unexpected. I guess my little email the other day is still having a motivating effect.

Knock on wood, maybe we'll be back up tommorow night. No promises though, of course.

Tomorrow they will find out that someone needs to flip a switch. So they will have to send out someone who knows how to flip switches. Unfortunately, the telco's only expert for that is skying somewhere, and expected to be back after Xmas. The usual bad luck added, he will have broken his leg while skying prolonging his absence till end of january. Of course, the temporary employment of a six year old who knows how to flip switches will be vividly discussed, but rejected because the telco cannot afford the additional costs estimating about 4 bubblegums.

Not really. Well of course we have been down before, but the Last time it was over a week before the telco tech made it out to check his end of the problem. This time we got to that point in four days. I think the improvement is notable, and promising.
