IIS and Router

How would I go about configuring my router to allow my computer to act as a web server using IIS? It is a Netgear firewall/router cable/dsl hub thingamajigger.

All you probably need to do is go into your router setup, and forward port 80 to your web server.

Say, is IIS free, or does it at least come with newer Versions of Windows? Or do you have to buy Visual Studio .NET to get it? I was thinking maybe someone would enjoy some sort of ASP.NET applications/games/whatever- I do a lot of that stuff at work so I might be able to be convinced to spend some of my free time on something SE4-related

(Hey Richard, you said almost anything would do for the upload files... can you handle ASP.NET? It's got some built-in components that make writing an uploader almost TOO easy, provided that you don't want anything like a status bar or such frills... but then the old uploader was rather no-frills, wasn't it?

Ed, IIS comes with Win 2000 and Win XP. You have to install it, but it costs no extra.

If so, that is yet another reason that the Home Versions suck.

Wait... there is a home Version of 2000?

Interesting... that would seem to defeat the purpose of win 2000.

I don't believe that is entirely correct. IIRC it only works with the Pro Versions and not the Home Versions....

Start off by using a REAL webserver like Apache.
Then do what Suicide Junkie said and adjust the router settings to allow requests to port 80 and allow requests that originate from port 80 to pass through again. That should work.
