				 Research
How do i get the full tech tree, w/out researching stuff, I did it one time, and i duno how i did, but i'd like to do it again, i hate having to research stuff. Hehe, when i got the game out of the case, I made it so i have the highest level of everything, how do i do that... I tried it again after i lost the first game, but i keep having to research stuff. Thanks. |

				 Re: Research
At least in the demo (UPS says my copy should arrive tomorrow...), you could set the starting tech level to 'high' (something like 'Game Settings', if memory serves).
Low = base tech. Medium = tech at a higher level, according to the text files. High meant *all* tech available to your race, including organic etc if you had the trait.

Curiously, in such a start, IIRC I usually had no research centers (perhaps a product of taking -50% Intelligence? So my empire is moronic... but fecund, industrious, and brutally efficient.) The AIs, on the other hand, usually had some RPs coming in. So perhaps the percentages you take affect your initial facility distribution? Hrmmm. Needs testing.

				 Re: Research
Ummm, if you started with all technology, why would you need research centers? Doesnt this make sense?

I propose to strap buttered toast to the back of a cat. The two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

				 Re: Research
*shrug* Ask the AIs. They had research centers even on max-tech, and didn't scrap them, it seems, since they normally led me throughout in RP production... will have to see if the full Version AIs also do this.
On max-tech, actually, I'd normally scrap one facility in each system for a replicant center at some point. Why wait for your people to breed when you can crank 'em out en masse?
