What does it means ? Are you not the game designer ? So, at least you, are suppose to know what is coded inside the game ... or I have miss something ?
Anyway it could be nice to have (I hope it will be in the original manual/CD I'm waiting for) some detailed explanation to how the combat really works ... I'm an old wargames player and I like to know what happens!
good play and good luck to all

Liga Much of the code for dom 2 is reused dom 1 code, so it might be up to 6 years ago since the code was programmed. This means that there are not only forumlas that are forgotten but occasionally also features. Furthermore Kristoffer is not a programmer, Johan Karlsson does nearly all of the coding, Johan Karlsson has a highly selective memory and occasionally forgets his own birthdays. So there are plenty of formulas in dom 2 that no one presently knows. Quite frankly you would have to be autistic to know all dom 2 formulas.
As for the effectiveness of shields, the number of units in the square is not really that important to estimate the shield effectiveness as long as you know that there is a basic 10+(2d6) vs 10+(2d6)+(shield def) roll if the missile hits the square.

When you watched Lord of the Rings did you sit there thinking "No problme Gandalf, you've got your sword +5 vs Fire Demons and that wimpy Balrog only has 2 Magic Resistance. You've got a 65.5% chance of winning this fight even without a +3 shiled!"?
