Re: WORLD MAP - UGLY
"The world map is not that pretty... but I prefer the XL maps. The larger maps usually means you'll see larger armies and battles."
Personally, I tend to play small to medium map only. I feel XL maps mid games/late games require too much micro management. You have an incredible amount of armies to move around. I guess it depends of the type of player you are...

Yeah, kidding, referring to your 2 hr d/l - 2 min delete
In fact this map is really ugly, but its size and setting would make it interesting if done correctly - half of the sea surface is useless, colors to redo, better res, ..
BTW for Dom1 there was a good IMHO Europe Map, can't one port it to Dom2 ? Thx

Re: WORLD MAP - UGLY
I've put up an edited Version of the world map at http://home.Online.no/~rmoldskr/Dominions/World.zip where I've changed the colour of the sea to a flat blue rather than the mess it was.
As an added benefit the new download is substantially smaller - 9 MB compared to 31
I have not drawn the borders between the sea provinces - someone ought to do that, but it'll have to be someone with more patience than I.
Whoops - almost forgot; there's a preview up at http://home.Online.no/~rmoldskr/Dominions/world.jpg
Anyway, seems as I'm too late. Torvak's new world map looks quite a bit better IMO.

Can you place a link on your own web page to this file?

Eye candy is not the determining factor in the playability or fun of scenarios for everybody. Personally, while I like looking at beautiful maps, I tend to value the actual setup and gameplay higher, and the worldwar scenario has a very nice setup.
That does not mean that I would not appreciate a more beautiful worldmap, of course, but it is not essential to my enjoyment. The default maps are at least functional...the world map is a horrific mess of a totally incomprehensible coloration. I felt as if someone poked me in the eye with an electric cattle prod after I fired it up...

There is a much better looking World map now available on my site for download. You can thank Torvak for it.
