only one spell give you paths when you have not (Forge of Ancients), and only for forging purposes.

No.

Be wary of the robe, though. The wearer gets eaten pretty soon, so don't put one on a pretender unless you really need to.

Unless your pretender is one very tough fellow - or just plain lucky

You wouldn't believe how many of my mages ended up with a horror mark in the first game in which I made a Robe of the Magi, as I passed it around a group of mages for forging-boost purposes for a couple of turns before noticing those nice marks left behind

Minor niggle: Wishing for "Magic Power" (I think) gives you permanent +1 in all magic paths, except holy/unholy.

Hi,

The ONLY item that boosts all magic paths is the Robe of the Magi. The Ring of Wizardry only boosts the elemental paths. Which begs the question of why it costs 80 pearls when the similar Ring of Sorcery only costs 40. It also requires one more in Astral.

Ciao,
V'ger gone

I believe you are mistaken about this. The Wizardry ring boosts all non-holy paths, while the Sorcery ring boosts just astral/nature/death/blood.

The Ring of Wizardry definitely boosts all the magical paths in my games - I just checked. Except Holy/Unholy, I assume although I haven't tested it.

The Staves of elemental mastery only boost the elemental paths. There is a unique robe (wishable or kill the bearer) that only boosts 'sorcery' (Astral/Death/Nature/Blood), like the ring. I forget what the Sword of Many colours boosts.
