And, just to gross you out further, scientists isolated the source of bacteria culture used to make limberger about 10 or 12 years ago.
The source: Bovine urine.

Yes, my friend, that's right. Someone let the cow p1$$ in the milk bucket, left it sitting in the barn for a month, and a delicacy was born!

Lovely. So, now I can actually say I've eaten cow p*ss. Just lovely.
EDIT: took out the phrase "I need to take a shower" becuase the word 'shower' is definitely not the word I wanted to use in this discussion of cow p*ss...if you know what I mean.

First of all, congrats on your healthy appetite and love for cheese.
Second, ever tried Dutch cheese?
Thirdly, Guiness is something they invented in Britain. It was born our of pure desperation. The river Thames was so polluted they began selling it as "beer". Nowadays they call that stuff Guiness.
When the Brits ran out of dirty water, they tried replicating it. They succeeded... in making it even more distasteful. Bleh...

My grandparents liove in Wisconsin, so whenever we visit them we always visit a cheeseshop[ down the road from them. They normally have one brick of limburger on the shelf. It's double wrapped in foil, followed by a double wrapping of pLastic wrap, and then its put in a ziploc bag....

Never tried the stuff, but I can imagine that it smells something awful.
