OT: SFC series open source

Thanks Slick. I had heard rumors of this for a while. What will open source be good for at this point? I never understood what they meant by Open Source. Does this mean that the code used to make the game will become free to all to use and modify as they wish? Hell if that is true, we could see SFC graphics just in time for SE VI.

You got it. The source code in the hands of the players. In the SFC world, there are a bunch of different mindsets. There are those that think it should be exactly like Starfleet Battles, the game it was based on. There are all kinds of other viewpoints, which has been debated at length on those Boards. At the very least, there are still some annoying bugs that can be squashed by modders. They are not as civilized over there as you guys are so I haven't posted there in probably 3 years. Either way, the game should be enhanced and everyone will probably be able to find a mod that they like.
